Stories of Change - Permaculture and the Empowerment of Young People and Women
Although there are many crises in the world, there are also many inspiring stories of resilience and change. As part of the “Stories of Change: Building Resilience, Hope and Action for a Just World” project, we produced three short films portraying people and local communities who are creating hope and shaping change despite local and global crises. Each of the three online workshops below will screen one of these films, followed by a live conversation with the protagonist about the challenges and crises impacting their lives, how resilience emerges, how change becomes possible, and how they have inspired others to take action. We will also discuss the use of the films for educational purposes.
All three events are independent and open — join one, two or all three!
This film follows Ansiima Casinga Rolande, who fled the Democratic Republic of Congo to Uganda and now lives in the Nakivale refugee settlement. She is a permaculture teacher and founded the organization FOLONA. She shares how she is building resilience and driving change on the ground through permaculture and by empowering women and young people in her community.
Information: The meetings are free of charge. The language will be English in Workshop 1 and 2, in workshop 3 the speaker will speak Spanish, a translation to English will be available.
